DermDad app — Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 25, 2026
The DermDad app has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your skin photos, notes and quiz answers stay on your iPhone. We do not receive them, and we do not sell or share any information about you.
Who we are
The DermDad app is published by Raashid Haque, MD (DermDad). Questions about this policy can be sent through dermdad.com.
What stays on your iPhone
- Skin tracker: the photos you take, the symptoms and notes you log, the diagnoses you enter, and your reminder choices. They are kept in a private app folder, not in your Photos library. The folder is excluded from iCloud and computer backups, and iPhone encrypts it while your phone is locked.
- Skin profile: your answers to the optional 2-minute quiz.
- Settings: language, appearance and lock preferences, and a copy of DermDad's published guides so the app works offline.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes it, and so does "Delete all tracker data" in the app. Because tracker data is not in iCloud backups, it will not move to a new phone unless you make a backup file (below).
Backup files
If you choose "Save a backup file", the app creates one file on your iPhone, locked with a password you choose. You decide where it goes (for example AirDrop, Files or a computer). We never receive it and cannot recover your password. If you save it to iCloud Drive or another cloud service, that service stores it under its own privacy policy.
PDFs for your visit
The visit summary PDF is made on your iPhone. You choose whether to print, save or share it.
Weather tips (optional)
If you turn on weather tips, the app asks for your approximate location while you use it. Your iPhone rounds it to about 10 km and sends it only to Apple Weather to get the current humidity, UV and temperature. We do not receive or store your location. Apple handles the request under its own privacy policy. You can turn weather tips off in the app or turn off location in iPhone Settings at any time.
Face ID and reminders
If you lock the tracker, iPhone checks your Face ID or passcode; the app only learns whether it was unlocked. Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone and do not name your spot on the lock screen.
Loading guides and care picks
To keep guides current, the app downloads DermDad's published content from our website's database. These requests contain no information about you. Like most internet services, our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as an IP address and the time of a request) for security and to keep the service running. We do not use these logs to identify you.
Links
Product links, videos and articles open websites or apps run by others (for example retailers or YouTube), under their own privacy policies. DermDad receives no payment for product recommendations. If that ever changes, affiliate links will be clearly labeled.
What we do not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell or share personal information.
- We do not use your health information for advertising or marketing.
Medical disclaimer
DermDad is for education only. It does not diagnose, treat, measure or detect any condition, and it does not analyze your photos. Talk to a clinician about your own skin, especially if a spot is changing, bleeding or worrying you.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13. A parent may use the tracker for a child's skin on the parent's own device.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date. If the app ever starts sending new kinds of information, we will say so here and in the app first.
