Lightweight sunscreen (gel or fluid)

A thin, fast-absorbing sunscreen in a gel, fluid, or light lotion form. It is made to feel less greasy and to sit well under makeup.

Why it helps

The best sunscreen is the one you will actually wear every day. A light texture makes daily use easier for oily, breakout-prone, or hot-weather skin, and it does not feel heavy on the face.

Look for

  • Broad spectrum and SPF 30 or higher
  • Labels such as non-comedogenic or oil-free
  • Gel, fluid, or water-light texture
  • Fragrance-free if your skin is reactive
  • Water resistant if you sweat

Avoid

  • Skipping the label check: a light feel does not guarantee broad spectrum or SPF 30+
  • Using a thinner layer than the label calls for just because it feels light
